Smart Metasurface-based Reconfigurable Partially Reflecting Surface for 2-40 GHz

Implementing Organization

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)

Project Overview

The project focuses on designing different types of partially reflecting surfaces, with the specific purpose of replacing the large reflector array antennas currently used for increasing the gain. These surfaces will be thus targeted for antennas in S (2-4 GHz), C (4-8 GHz), Ku (12-18 GHz) and Ka (26.5-40 GHz) bands. The designs for these surfaces will be ready-to-use, low-profile and highly efficient in performance. In addition, the reconfigurability of the partially reflecting surfaces will be emphasized in the study. Towards the proof of concept, the metasurface based integrated antennas will be designed, simulated, fabricated and tested for complete validation. The key factors contributing to the enhancement of the bandwidth and other performance metrics of the antenna will be brought out.
