Project Overview

Under this project, two types of Permanent Magnet (PM) materials will be investigated: one Nd2Fe14B with objective of reduction in content of Dy and ALNICO with objective of optimized alloy composition based on knowledge of phase equilibria and diffusion kinetics. Various diffusion couple experiments will be conducted to understand the phase transition and diffusion kinetics in RE-based systems (Nd-Dy and Nd2Fe14B). Knowledge of phase equilibria will be established in Fe-Ni-Co-Al based systems and it will be utilized for designing alloy compositions to give optimum magnetic properties.
