Project Overview
Quantum-key-distribution (QKD) has enormous potential to build provably secure communication and information transferring systems that guarantee security through the laws of quantum physics. HD-QKD can be realized by exploiting optical degrees of freedom other than polarization, e.g., path, spatial, time, and frequency. Time-frequency encoding based HD-QKD has been as-of-yet underexplored and underutilized. In this project, it is envisaged to theoretically investigate and experimentally implement novel HD encoding schemes in time-frequency using ultrafast quantum photonics methodologies based on parametric down-conversion inside a nonlinear waveguide.
