Technology for Bioremediation of Hydrocarbon Contaminated Soil
Implementing Organization
North-East Institute of Science & Technology (NEIST)
About
CSIR-NEIST developed a process for reclamation of crude oil/hydrocarbon contaminated soil by biological means. An integrated biotechnological approach with native 'crude oil degrading soil microbes and plants' has been attempted. Depending on the nature of crude oil composition, soil and severity of the contamination detail project report (DPR) for recovery of crude oil contaminated soil/environment through biological means can be prepared.

Outcome / Output
The process know-how is a mixed culture of certain bacteria isolated from soils of Assam, Bio-formulation is prepared depending upon the bio-chemical nature of the contaminated soil, Environment friendly product.
