MeitY had approved the Scheme “Skill Development in ESDM for Digital India” on 09.12.2014 with a total target of 3,28,000 candidates to facilitate creation of an eco-system for development of ESDM Sector in the entire country. The Scheme is being implemented by three Key Implementing Agencies (KIAs) namely NIELIT, ESSCI and TSSC. The scheme is operated and managed by Programme Management Unit (PMU) at NIELIT, under the aegis of MeitY in a transparent manner.

Candidates studying at IX/X standard onwards, ITI, Polytechnic, undergraduate and also unemployed youth who are school dropouts from 8th pass onwards, ITI Certificate or Diploma holders, graduates, registrants in Employment Exchanges. In order to boost Manufacturing Sector Skilling, Engineering Graduates are now permitted for L5 level courses. However the candidate must attained the age of 17 years at the time of registration on enrolment
