A flagship program of the Indian government, the Prime Minister Research Chair (PMRC) Scheme aims to engage and attract eminent Indian-origin academics, scientists, and professionals from around the globe in order to boost the nation's research and innovation ecosystem.
In order to conduct high-impact research, teaching, and mentoring in strategic and emerging disciplines, the program embeds globally experienced researchers and professionals in top Indian higher education and research institutions. The PMRC Scheme aims to establish India as a global center for academic and research excellence through long-term, structured partnerships that are in line with national priorities.
1. Young Research Fellows (YRF): Early career researchers with 0 to less than 5 years of post-PhD experience.
2. Senior Fellows (SF): Mid-career researchers with 5 to less than 10 years of post-PhD experience.
3. Research Chairs (RC): Eminent researchers with 10 years or more of post-PhD experience and demonstrated research leadership.
