Agriculture Sharmila KP has filed a patent in India for a hydroponic farming model that supports rural farming in areas with poor soil conditions or limited space. The model uses an automated system to improve access to plants from remote locations, allowing for year-round cultivation. The project aims to empower socially economically backward communities, support less water-based farming, and promote sustainable vegetable and fruit cultivation. The project involves developing a hydroponic structure, a sensing and control system, and a method for nutrient film technique (NFT) for leafy greens.

The project focuses on developing an IoT-based platform for hydroponic systems, allowing autonomous monitoring and control. The system includes sensors for air, water, and power measurements, peristaltic pumps, and power control boxes. The IoT platform stores and analyzes data collected from the devices, allowing users to access it from anywhere. The project also includes developing an Android app for monitoring system parameters, automating hydroponic farm setup, and offering hands-on training in hydroponics. The goal is to improve the quality of life for economically weaker rural communities.
