About
This project aims to develop a 3D avatar for Indian Sign Language, improving information access and enabling various roles such as educators, storytellers, communication agents, and interpreters. The main objectives include analyzing existing systems, developing wire-mesh and skin for a localized realistic avatar, developing a representation for missing emotions and gestures, and developing an algorithm for mapping SiGML to an animation script for synthesizing human-like face expressions. The project will also create a localized 3D avatar capable of producing animation on the fly, embeddable in web interfaces, mobile apps, or desktop applications. The project addresses key questions such as improving avatar acceptability in hearing-impaired communities, incorporating missing expressions, and improving synchronization between manual and non-manual gestures. The project's applications include entertainment, computer graphics, multimedia communication, military simulations, aesthetic animation, and education.
