Project Overview

The proposal aims to develop a sustainable and green process for the production of tailormade oils with a balanced fatty acid profile and bioactive/protein/fiber enriched residue. The vegetable oil industries are interested in a greener and more sustainable extraction process with a minimum carbon footprint. Supercritical fluid extraction ensures complete extraction of oil without heat processing, allowing the residue to be formulated into food and feed applications. The proposed process focuses on optimizing feed materials, processing conditions, and evaluating the nutritional, physico-chemical composition, and functional properties of the residue. The project also aims to develop functional ingredients in food products and evaluate the health benefits of the residue from the virgin oil industry.
