About
This project aims to develop a smart sensing system for precision agriculture, focusing on soil quality and water retention. The researchers will analyze soil-moisture content, pH, and nutrient availability using microwave sensing techniques from Punjab India and Chemnitz Germany. The results will be verified using surface acoustic wave SAW sensors. The scientific objectives include investigating and analyzing soil types, designing microstrip patch and surface acoustic wave sensors, modeling and testing soil properties, fusion of microstrip patch and surface acoustic wave sensors, and validating and testing the advanced sensor model in real-time domain. The methodology includes analyzing microstrip resonator sensors, numerical modeling of sensing responses, and optimization of IDT dimensions. The proposed microstrip patch sensor (MPS) will be fabricated and tested in radiation-free environments. The SAW sensors will be integrated with novel 2D nano-materials and composites, enhancing sensitivity and selectivity. The project will also involve professors and PhD students from both universities presenting their work in digital webinars and International Workshops on Impedance Spectroscopy.
