Project Overview
The increasing amount of data generated by various devices, including smartwatches, mobile phones, and cloud nodes, necessitates an optimized data storage framework to facilitate real-time decision-making and smooth data transfer between IoT and backend parallel file systems. This proposal aims to design and develop DaSH, an end-to-end framework for optimizing data storage for heterogeneous compute devices. The framework will tackle three layers of compute nodes: resource-constrained IoTs, moderately resourceful edge devices, and highly capable backend compute clusters. DaSH will be generic, allowing it to be applied to multiple IoT/sensor projects in various institutions. Building DaSH will optimize data storage and usage activities for existing research at various research institutions.
