Project Overview

The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly impacted the mental and physical health of many people worldwide, particularly among youths who are increasingly using digital communication platforms to connect with loved ones. Cyberbullying, which can take various forms such as text, images, video, and emojis, is a common issue among these young people. It can lead to stress, emotional and behavioral problems, sleep difficulties, suicidal tendencies, and depression. Mental health is a major crisis in today's world, and the pandemic has exacerbated mental health issues among people. This research project aims to identify the severity of cyberbullying and its impact on the mental health of Indian youth. Existing automated solutions rely on machine learning and deep learning techniques, but this research proposes a novel decentralized deep learning approach to detect abusive textual content. The approach consists of two modules: System Level and Cloud Level, which analyze user messaging data and classify it into abusive and non-abusive. The cloud level module analyses each entity and calculates the probability of the presence of different types of toxicity, such as toxic, insult, threat, and hate speech. The project aims to develop an awareness program for the youth, including workshops and seminars on cyberbullying and mental health, and provide recommendations for policy action. The findings will be shared with governmental agencies for policy action and will be published in a reputable journal. The project also aims to develop and plan awareness programs for the youth, including workshops and seminars on cyberbullying and mental health.
