The kit is simple to operate can be used by illiterate farmers in the field as well as researchers without any lab facilities as long as there is clean water. It involves crushing the affected tissue in water in a tube into which reagents are added and after shaking well, the contents are allowed to settle. The top layer is transferred to another tube into which a stick coated with regents is dipped followed by dipping in detection regent and detection substrate. A positive and a negative control are included for reliability of the results. Washing of the dip stick in clean water are intermediary steps for which clean water can also be included in the kit.
