Process for Production of High Purity Magnesia

Project Overview

The proposed process involves reaction of MgCl2 rich brine obtained in course of recovering KCl from SEL in the integrated SOP process with liquid ammonia to precipitate magnesium hydroxide and subsequent calcination of the latter to produce high purity magnesia. The aqueous ammonium chloride stream is treated with lime to regenerate recycle ammonia in magnesium hydroxide precipitated process.
