‘‘CAFFEINE TO CARDBOARD”, Transforming Coffee Husk Waste into Sustainable and Innovative Packaging Boxes
Implementing Organization
Project Overview
The production of corrugated cardboard traditionally involves harvesting trees, contributing to deforestation, habitat destruction, and biodiversity loss. To address this environmental concern and turn waste into a valuable resource, the project aims to develop a prototype of kraft paper and corrugated cardboard boxes using coffee husk waste. Chikmagalur, being the second-largest producer of coffee, generates a significant amount of coffee husk waste. As this waste is acidic and produces greenhouse gases if dumped in landfills, finding sustainable solutions is crucial for both agricultural waste management and sustainable packaging.
