A process for the recovery of extremely high purity solar salt with in the field has been developed. The process is based on the modification of the salt crystal morphology in such a way that agglomeration and consequently, the impurity level in the salt is reduced considerably. The heap washed salt analyzed >99.5% NaCl with highly reduced levels of calcium and sulphate impurities hitherto not achieved in solar salt production.
