Lutein and zeaxanthin are antioxidants of carotenoid family. They are naturally occurring, fat soluble pigments in plants. It gives food a red, orange, or yellow colour. Lutein is not synthesized in the body; therefore, the only way to get it is by dietary consumption. A minimum dose required is about 2 to 6 milligrams per day. Consumption of lutein helps in improved vision. It reduces inflammation and redness of the skin
