The glucose biosensor finds application in measuring glucose level in a diabetic patient. It can sense glucose concentrations in blood from 40 mg/DL to 600 mg/DL of blood glucose. The device consists of one enzyme immobilized at a suitable electrode that is coupled to an electronic circuit. Amperometric method of detection has been employed. The device is compact and user friendly and it can be effectively utilized in diabetes monitoring, bed side diagnosis, pre- and post prandial levels, diabetic counseling and is cost effective etc. Approximate cost of the device in India: Rs. 3000/- (US$ 68).
