Research Projects

Objective: • Development of corrosion protective aluminum, zinc based and multilayer (Zn, Ni, Snetc) based coatings on AA (2024-T3) as well as AA 2014 by using low pressure cold spray process. • Evaluation of the coatings for their thickness, micro-hardness and adhesion strength. • Morphological and structural characterization of the developed coatings. • Electrochemical behaviour and corrosion protection studies of the coatings using OCP and PDP techniques. • Long term corrosion exposure studies by subjecting the samples in 3.5 wt.% NaCl aqueous solution for 24, 48, 96, 336 h. • Performance evaluation of coatings and comparison with the un coated alloys.
