About
Geospatial technologies are essential in various industries, including public administration, taxation, transportation, engineering, science, sociology, and natural resource management. However, there is a shortage of qualified geospatial personnel at all levels. A 21-day training program aims to increase participants' skills in using open-source software and expanding their knowledge in teaching, research, and development. The Department of Water Resources and Ocean Engineering at the National Institute of Technology Karnataka has conducted two Level-1 programs on geospatial technologies, benefiting over 60 participants. The program includes an M.Tech. curriculum in remote sensing and GIS, with faculty members and master's and PhD students providing training. The training will cover theories and practical applications, with SAGA-based open-source GIS software used for practical sessions.
