About
Geospatial technologies, including satellite remote sensing, geographic information systems, and ground-based sensors, are used in various fields of agriculture, including soil resource management, watershed management, land degradation assessment, command area development, crop inventory, health monitoring, and crop damage assessment. These technologies are used as decision-making tools for optimizing resource utilization, distribution of agricultural inputs, and marketing activities. The Department of Remote Sensing and GIS at Tamil Nadu Agricultural University has been implementing these techniques since 1990. The training program on "Geospatial Technologies in Agriculture" Level 2 will be organized by the Department of Remote Sensing and GIS, sponsored by the Natural Resource Data Management System (NRDMS). The objectives are to build capacities in geospatial science and technology applications in agriculture, demonstrate the application of geospatial techniques for efficient planning, and promote networking among different user-groups. The training program will target faculty, state and central government officials, and research institutions, with participants aged 25-30 and a budget of Rs. 11.00 lakh.
