About

PIs will fabricate homo and heterostructure molecular thin films (anthracene, pyrene, benzoic acids) on ferromagnetic electrodes. The thickness of the molecular layers (5-80 nm) would be varied by changing the electrochemical potential conditions. The thin films would be characterized by XPS, AFM, EIS techniques. Molecular spintronics devices would be fabricated by depositing a ferromagnetic top contact (80-100 nm). Spin-pumping in the molecular spintronic devices would be investigated by frequency dependence (4-14 GHz) ferromagnetic resonance (FMR) spectroscopy. Magnetoresistances (MR%) would be measured in the spin-valve configuration, ferromagnet/molecules/ferromagnet Experimental spin-transport data would be modeled in understanding in-depth transport mechanisms at the different molecular layer thicknesses. The outcome of the project would be published in high-impact journals, filing patents.
