About
The project aims at development of fluorescent organic photosensitizers having potential to generate supramolecular photosensitizing assemblies in mixed aqueous media. These photosensitizers having donor and acceptor moieties of varying strength are expected to exhibit intramolecular charge transfer (ICT) state and as a result may absorb strongly in visible/NIR region. The variation in donor-acceptor strength will help in controlling the HOMO -LUMO gap which will affect the singlet-triplet energy gap (EST). These photosensitizers will then be evaluated for their photosensitization potential to activate the aerial oxygen for the efficient generation of 1O2 which will then be utilized for cell imaging and for killing the infected diseased cells by photodynamic therapy (PDT).
